If I had a penny for every everything I did not know when I bought my first home…
Well, I guess due to inflation I wouldn’t have all that much. But, believe me, I wished then that I had a place to find answers to my questions.
Here are some guides and links that can help you make the right decision and help you understand the process.
- The Home Buying Process –This is a little PDF presentation that I did to help you understand the steps required to buy a home.
- Dos and Don’ts of Buying a House –If you are a few months away from starting your search, have a look at this. It might help you get ready.
- How Much House Can I Afford? –Many people in recent years bought “too much house” (sometimes because real estate agents tried to sell them too much). The best rule of thumb with your first house is to start smaller than you actually need to and save, save, save! This Excel spreadsheet will help you figure all of that out.
- Condo vs House –Here are some things to consider if you are torn between condo living and the traditional “40 acres and a mule.” Ok, it’s more like 1/8 of an acre and a pet. But you get the idea.
