The Renovator

So, you’ve just purchased your first “fixer-upper.” You’ve got dreams of what it could be and you just don’t know where to start.

Here are some useful links. Keep checking back. I’ll add more here soon.

1) Check out AKA Green, the green products hardware store, for tips on how to make your home more energy efficient, healthy and cheaper to maintain.

2) Have a look at the Department of Energy web side for information about products and tax credits for making your home more energy efficient.

3) If you are in a historic neighborhood, the City of Phoenix Neighborhood Preservation Office is a wealth of information. Look for information about city support for historic renovation and repair.

4) No home renovator can go without Angie’s List. This is like a cross between Yelp and Craig’s list. You can find somebody to do almost anything from plumbing and electrical to mending a fence. Plus, they are all rated by those who used them last. So you have more certainty about what you are paying for.

Watch here for more updates and ideas.
